55 Ewer Street is new student accommodation development comprising a 150 room facility incorporating communal space and 4,399 sq m of gross internal floor area situated in a tight inner city location in Southwark which saw the regeneration of a largely redundant car park site.
Each studio had its own ensuite bathroom and kitchen facility.
The scheme effectively repaired the streetscape and brought new life to this part of Bankside whilst complementing the surrounding regeneration.
The building included a basement, ground floor, and seven upper floors constructed in modular form, and involved working adjacent to an elevated live railway line.
During the main construction phase, careful coordination with contractors and neighbours on adjacent sites was paramount to the project success ensuring the single lane service road, which ran through the site was maintained at all times.
