The former Old Indian Institute sits among some of the City of Oxford’s most famous buildings including the Sheldonian Theatre, Clarendon Building, Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Camera. The building is of architectural and historic significance, is Grade II listed and within a conservation area. The Institute required modernisation to its systems, facilities and configuration.
Rainsford was appointed as Design & Build contractor to carry out the modernisation works. This included a reconfiguration to the building’s entrance, new main lift and platform lift, new rear staircase and internal reconfiguration, with associated mechanical, electrical and public health works.
